3462 Weinfelden Weinfelden is situated at an elevation of 432 m in the centre of the Swiss canton Thurgau. Weinfelden has a population of about 11,200 (2016) and is the capital of the district Weinfelden, one of the five districts of the canton.

Already in AD 124 there was a roman bridge across the Thur river at this place. The earliest known written document mentioning Quivelda (today Weinfelden) is a deed of donation to the monastery of Sankt Gallen dating from 838.

Weinfelden castle was first mentioned in 1180 when on third of the castle was handed to the bishop of Konstanz. Throughout the centuries, the owners of the castle changed numerous times. The castle was renovated in the 1970s and in the 1990s.

Glass no. 3462 is labeled on the bottom: “G. St. H. / Bern”. The mark refers to the souvenir (glass and porcellain) wholesaler Steiger from Berne (no longer active). The same mark is found on the bottom of glasses no. 3616 (a souvenir from Auvernier, Milvignes), no. 3588 (a souvenir from Charmey), no. 3930 (a souvenir from Saanen) and no. 3453 (a souvenir from Trin).
