Jince is situated at an elevation of 391 m in the valley of the river Litavka in the Brdy mountain region, in the Příbram district of Central Bohemia. The municipality has a population of about 2,300 (2017).
The earliest mention of Jince dates from 1390, refering to the restoration of the local ironworks.
During the Middle Ages, jince was a regional centre of iron mining.
In 1900, Jince obtained the status of a market town, but since 2006 it reverted to the status of a township.
The military training area Brdy was founded in 1924/1930; it closed in 2015.
