Dolní Bukovsko (until 1924 Bukovsko) is situated at an elevation of 446 m in the České Budějovice district of the Czech Republic. The municipality has the status of a market town (městys) and has a population of about 1,700 (2016).
The settlement was most probably fouded in the mid-13th century. The earliest written document mentioning the place dates from 1323. The village obtained the privilege for holding markets in 1555 (confirmed in 1784). After the end of sucerainty in 1850, Bukovsko obtained the status of a municipality and market town in the district of Třeboň (Wittingau). In 1924 the name of the municipality was officially changed from Bukovsko to Dolní Bukovsko. The district Třeboň was dissolved and Dolní Bukovsko was re-allocated to the district Týn nad Vltavou. When that district was dissolved in 1961, the municipality became part of the district České Budějovice. The municipality had lost the status as městys (market town) after 1948 but re-gained it in 2007.
