Bílovec received the status of a town in 1323 by Wok von Krawarn, and the name of the old settlement became Wockenstadt, which was the origin of the German name Wagstadt. The town received new privileges and fortifications in 1328.
The castle [left, no. 951: top left, barely visible] was built in 1595 and was transformed in Baroque style in the 18th century.
The parish church St. Nicolas [right, no. 1289: centre] dates back to a church of the 14th century.
The painter Johann Ignaz CIMBAL (1722–1795) was born in Bílovec.
