Stod (German: Staab) is situated at an elevation of 357 m on the river Radbuza in West Bohemia. In 1253, the village was given to the monastery of Chotìšov (Chotieschau). During the Thirty Years' War (1816–1648) it was almost completely deserted. In 1850 it obtained he status of a town.
The parish church of St. Magdalene [background, centre] was built in 1841–1843
in place of the original church of 1567.
Stod became an independent parish in 1690. Before that date the church had been a filial church of the monastery of Chotìšov.
