The mineral springs of Jánské Koupele were already known in 1640. At that
time the springs were part of the estate of Melč (Meltsch) and hence were called
Meltscher Bad. The first bathing facilities were built in 1755 by the Order of the Jesuits,
then owners of Melč castle. The name Johannisbrunn came into use
in 1808 when Count Johann Tenczin owned the estate. The first stone building
for the spa was built in 1851. The flourishing period of the spa began after
1895 when the ownership passed to Count Camillo Razumovsky.
Today, Jánské Koupele is part of the municipality of Staré Těchanovice (Altzechsdorf).
