Blindenmarkt is situated at an elevation of 246 m in the lower Ybbs valley of western Lower Austria, about 30 km southwest of the district town Melk and about 49 km west of Lower Austria's capital, Sankt Pölten. The municipality has a population of about 2,800 (2023).
Plintenmarct was first mentioned in a written document dating from 1220. In 1522 it obtained market town privileges, which were renewed in 1569. In 1858 the Western railroad (Empress Elisabeth Railway) was completed and connected Vienna to Linz (1859 further on to Salzburg) and thus Blindenmarkt since then is connected to the railway system.
The Baroque parish church Sankt Anna [background left] was built around 1750/1755 in place of
an earlier, late Medieval chapel. Since 1785 it has the status of a parish church. The edifice was renovated in 1983–1986.
