The mountain Hohe Wand ('high wall') is a limestone massif (1132 m)
in the Gutenstein Alps west of the Steinfeld plain in Lower Austria.
It obtained its name from its steep precipices which are a popular climbing area
with all degrees of difficulty. A toll road (gradient 12%) leads up to the plateau at
800–1,000 m. The area also is protected as a nature reserve.
