Wolfshagen im Harz is situated at an elevation of 254 m about 3 km southwest of Langelsheim, about 8 km west of the district town Goslar, and about 68 km southeast of Hannover, the capital of Germany's state of Lower Saxaony. Wolfshagen has a population of about 2,200 (2021) and is part of the municipality of Langelsheim.
The earliest known written document that mentions the place name Wolveshagen dates from 1172, the earliest document referring explicitly to
the village Wulveshagen is from 1316. Around 1890, Wolfshagen became a popular climatic health resort. In 1972, Wolfshagen was incorporated into
the municipality of Langeslheim. In 1975 it was officially recognised as a resort place by the state.
