4521 Kreischa Kreischa is situated at an elevation of 2576 m in the valley of the stream Lockwitzbach, about 12 km south of Dresden. The municipality has a population of about 4,600 (2022) and also includes the villages of Babisnau, Bärenklause, Brösgen, Gombsen, Kautzsch, Kleba, Kleincarsdorf, Lungkwitz, Quohren, Saida, Sobrigau, Theisewitz, Wittgensdorf and Zscheckwitz.

The oldest known written document that mentions Kryschowe dates from 1282. The village originally consisted of three parts: Niederkreischa, Mittelkreischa and Oberkreischa. Kreischa obtained the status of a market town in 1834. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kreischa became a popular resort place just outside Dresden. A regional tram line, the Lockwitztalbahn, operated between 1904 and 1977. In 1952 Kreischa became part of the district Freital. The neighbouring municipalities of Gombsen, Kleincarsdorf, Lungkwitz, Quohren and Theisewitz were incorporated into the municipality on 1973, the municipalities of Bärenklause-Klautsch and Sobrigau followed in 1994 and at the same time, the municipality became part of the newly-formed district Weißeritzkreis, which itself in 2008 was merged into the new district Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge.

The Sanatorium [left, no. 4521: top picture], since 1990 operating under the name Klinik Bavaria Kreischa, was founded in 1839 as the 1. Sächsische Kaltwasserheilanstalt (1st Saxon Cold-water Sanatorium). Its tradition as an institution for medical rehabilitation goes back to the 1850s. The construction of a new clinic building started in 1992.

The Gänselieslbrunnen [bottom left picture] (on glass no. 4521 labeled as Hausmann-Brunnen) was created in 1911 as a monument for the owner of the knightly estate, Ferdinand Haußmann. The central column supports a bronze sculpture of a maid plucking a goose (in German popularly called a Gänseliesl). The sculpture was created by the young sculptor Max Dittert.

The Park-Villa [bottom right picture] was a later addition (Haus I) to the complex of the sanatorium.
