Korytnica-kúpele is situated at an elevation of 850 m in the southern part of the district Ružomberok in the northern slopes of the Prašivá mountain of the Low Tatras, about 9 km south of Liptovská Osada.
Korytnica's tradition as a spa goes back to the 16th century. The mineral waters from Korytnica won medals at the World Exhibition 1873 in Vienna and 1904 as the only European mineral water at the World Exhibition Saint Louis. The coldest mineral water of all Slovak springs rises from the Vojtech spring in the Korytnica spa with a temperature of 5.4°C. Until 1974, a narrow-gauge railway connected Ružomberok with Korytnica. The spa was privatised in the 1990s. In 2002 the spa went backrupt and deteriorated. In 2013, the Korytnica mineral water filler was sold off. Some reconstruction works began in 2016.
