After the abolishment of manorialism in the late 19th century, Ketten became a municipality. With the foundation of the Czechoslovak Repubic after World War I, the town was renamed Chotyň in 1919. In 1924 the name was changed to Chotyně. The ferrous thermal springs had already been known for a long time, and since the early 20th century were used for the tratment of rheumatism, gout and anemia. The spa was closed after World War II.
