Williams Canyon is located just north of Manitou Springs in El Paso County, about 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Colorado Springs. In 1870 the canyon was named after Henry Truman Williams, a New York editor and publisher who set up guided tours to the west. The Williams Canyon trail is popular for hiking. The land is private property, owned by Cave of the Winds; however, tickets can be obtaied for using the trail. William's Canyon Trail is a 6.1-mile out and back trail that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from February until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
