The
Col des Mosses is a mountain pass (1,445 m) in the Swiss Alps in the canton Vaud, linking Aigle
in the Rhône valley to Château-d'Œx in the Pays d'Enhaut. The traffic road was constructed in 1868 and the first
regular stage coach service was set up in the following year. The pass separates the Mont d'Or in the west from the Pic Chaussy in the east. It is also part
of the European Watershed. The Alpine Pass Route, a long-distance hiking trail (350 km) through the Alps in Switzerland, which starts at Sargans in
eastern Switzerland, and crosses the heart of country the westwards to finish in Montreux on the shore of Lake Geneva, passes
through Col des Mosses.
The resort village Les Mosses is part of the municipality Ormont-Dessous, district Aigle.
