2601 Lądek-Zdrój Lądek-Zdrój is situated at an elevation of 420 m in the Kłodzko Valley on the river Biała Lądecka (German: Landecker Biele) in the powiat Kłodzki, about 18 km southeast of the district town, Kłodzko. The mountains to the northeast are the Golden Mountains (Góry Złte, Reichensteiner Gebirge), to the souteast the Góry Bialskie (Bielengebirge) and to the southwest the Śnieżnik Mountains (Masyw Śnieżnika, Glatzer Schneegebirge). The municipality of Lądek-Zdrój has a population of about 6,000 (2007).

The town was most likely founded in the second half of the 13th century by King Otakar II of Bohemia. In 1294 it was already mentioned as a Bohemian Royal town. The German name, Landecke, was first mentioned in 1325 and refers to the location at the edge of the Kłodzko (Glatz) county. The priviledges of the town were confirmed in 1392 by King Wenceslav IV. As the town was not fortified it was burnt down during the Hussite Wars in 1428 and in 1431. The town also suffered severe damages during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648). After the Silesian Wars Lower Silesia became part of Prussia in 1763. The thermal springs became a popular resort place from the 18th century onward, especially after King Friedrich II ('the Great') and his family had visited the spa repeatedly in 1765 and the following years. The town also profited from the construction of the railway branch line from Glatz (Kłodzko) via Landeck (Lądek) to Seitenberg (Stronie Śląskie) which reached Landeck in 1897. After Warld War II the German population was expelled and the town was renamed from German Bad Landeck to Polish Lądek-Zdrój.
