bg, sr: Валенфелс ru, uk: Валленфельс

2586 Wallenfels Wallenfels is situated at an elevation of 382 m in the valley of the river Wilde Rodach in the Kronach district of Upper Franconia. The municipalty has a population of about 3,000 (2008).

The earliest written mention of Ilowa dates from 1126. The name Waldenfels was first used in 1248. Wallenfels was part of the territory of the bishopric of Bamberg. In 1803 the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss ended the secular rule of the bishopric and Wallenfels became part of the Electorate (1806 Kingdom) of Bavaria. In 1954 Wallenfels obtained the status of a town.

The Catholic parish church of Sankt Thomas [top picture, background left] was built in 1861–1869.

The two bottom pictures show views of the quarter at the river Rodach.
