Cleebronn

ru: Клеброн

2553 Cleebronn Cleebronn is situated at an elevation of 236 m on the stream Ruitbach, a tributary to the river Zaber in the Heilbronn district of northern Baden-Württemberg.

The earliest written mention of Kleberen is found in a document dating from 1279. In the 14th century Württemberg acquired around two thirds of the village as Württembergisch Cleebronn. The other third stayed in possession of the prince archbishops of Mainz as Mainzisch Cleebronn. In 1785 Württemberg acquired this last third, but the two municipalities (named Alt-Cleebronn and Neu-Cleebronn) stayed independent from each other until 1 January 1844 when the two parts were finally reunited.

Magenheim Castle [background] is located on a hill above Cleebronn. It was built by the Staufers in 1230/1250 and formerly was the seat of the lords of Magenheim who had been first mentioned in 793 in the Lorsch Codex and had become extinct in ca.1410.
