Przemków is situated at an elevation of 176 m in the Polkowice county of Lower Silesia in southwestern Poland.
Przemków was first mentioned in 1305. In 1331 it became a fief of the Bohemian Crown.
Since 1741 Przemków (German: Primkenau) was part of Prussia. In 1945 Przemków with Silesia became part of Poland.
The picture on glass no. 2049 [left] shows the steelworks
Henriettenhütte. A hammer mill at this place (Hohenofen) had already been
founded in 1794 and was called Georgenmühle. In 1860 the iron works were renamed Henriettenhütte, which also became
the new name of Hohenofen. In 1920 the ironworks were transformed into an incorporated company under the name
"Herzogliche Eisen- und Emaillier-Werke, Aktien-Gesellschaft, Primkenau" (HEEAG). The Polish name of the town district
Henriettenhütte is Opalanki.
