Gemmrigheim is situated at an elevation of 259 m on the river between Stuttgart and Heilbronn.
The origins of Gemmrigheim very likely go back to about AD 500. The first mention of the name "Gamertincheim" is found in a document
of the monastery of Reichenbach dating from 1085. Since the late 13th or early 14th century the village belonged to Württemberg.
