Uetze is situated at an elevation of 52 m about 37 km east of Lower Saxony's capital, Hannover. Uetze obtained the status of a market town in 1695. Until the 17th century, it belonged to the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. Later, it was part of the Electorate (later Kingdom) of Hannover. With the annexation of Hannover by Prussia in 1866, it became part of the Prussian Kingdom.
Schloss Uetze, today named Junkernhof, [left] is one of the oldest buildings in Uetze.
The manor house was built in 1635 in place of an earlier edifice.
