Kudowa-Zdrój is situated at an elevation of 390–440 m on the Kudowa stream in a basin at tha foot of the Stołowe mountains in Lower Silesia, directly at the border to the Czech Republic (Náchod). Due to the mild climate and its mineral sorings it has been known as a spa for many centuries. The waters are used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders. Most of the spa buildings date from the end of the 19th and early 20th century.
The Baroque Kudowa manor (Zameczek) was built in the 18th century in place of
an older hunting lodge.
