1027 Nowy Sącz Nowy Sącz is situated at the Dunajec river in the Little Poland (Cracovia) region of south-east Poland. It was founded in 1292 (Nova Civitas Sandecz) and received a town charter in 1298. After the 1st Partition of Poland in 1772 it became part of Austria (Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria). After the break-up of the Austrian monarchy in 1918 it became part of Poland in 1919.

The picture on the glass shows the town hall of Nowy Sącs, built in 1895–1897.

The Austrian economist, Carl MENGER von WOLFENSGRÜN (1840–1921), founder of the Austrian school of economics and of Neoclassical economic thought, was born in Nowy Sącz. He developed the theory of subjective value (marginal utility theory) and was a strong proponent of economic Liberalism.
