Hafnerberg is situated at an elevation of 478 m above the valley of the river Triesting. Nöstach-Hafnerberg is a cadastral district of the municipality Altenmarkt an der Triesting.

The parish and pilgrimage church Unsere Liebe Frau (church of Our Lady) was built in splendid Baroque style 1729–1745 in place of a Lady Monument that had been erected in 1653 on the Via Sacra, the pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell. The ceiling frescos by J. Ignaz Mildorfer date from 1743 and 1748. The magnificent high altar was created after plans of Balthasar F. Moll in 1744. The Rococo organ was made in 1767 by Anton Pfliegler, one of the most important organ-builders of the 18th century in Austria.
